Activities.

The strategy of the REV@CONSTRUCTION Mobilising Project focuses on the Digitalisation of the AEC sector, with the aim of increasing its international competitiveness.

For this purpose, it will develop and provide digital solutions to companies in the sector, from architects and designers to project management and construction companies. In order to achieve this objectives, new Products, Processes or Services (PPS) will be created.

REV@CONSTRUCTION is structured in 4 main PPS:

PPS1

DIGI4Construction

The main goal is to develop and make available in the form of an interoperable platform the methodological bases, information and standard services necessary for the preparation of BIM projects, eliminating the existing barrier between this methodology/modelling tool and the production of standardised specifications. The aim is to provide the construction industry with a place for collaboration, sharing and access to innovative services with the following main objectives:

01.

Increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of construction processes, providing the agents involved with an aggregating and standardised work instrument for the implementation of construction projects, namely of public investment, as well as providing public administration with a data collection instrument for its control and monitoring instruments.

02.

The reduction of “public context costs” by standardizing practices and procedures throughout the various stages of the construction process, investing in the central issues of the construction sector. In addition, the implementation of communication mechanisms between different applications promotes transparency and simplification of information flows, guaranteeing that no information is lost during the processes.

03.

To meet the national and European objective of using innovative information and communication technologies in the construction sector, with particular focus on the issues of integration between applications, interoperability, and security.

04.

The use of Interoperability Platforms to exchange information between intersectorial information systems and to make available services that may become of general use in the construction sector.

05.

Through training programmes that reinforce technical skills and the vision of the construction process for use in detriment of a more segmented vision centred on the initial value of the investment, the aim is to qualify public investments in construction, especially at the level of public work owners.

To achieve these objectives it will be necessary to act at several levels

PPS2

Digital Twin for the AEC sector stakeholders.

The main goal is to promote the digitalisation of construction business processes and activities, from the conception and design phase to the completion and delivery of the work. This will be an accelerator of this transformation process for the different stakeholders involved, such as construction companies, designers, architects, supervision companies, construction site owners, material suppliers, among others. The materialisation of this central objective will be achieved as follows:

01.

Implementation of an inclusive, open technological context that favours the use of Open Source based solutions and promotes the introduction of Industry 4.0 technologies in the sector.

02.

Availability of apps to support the digitalisation of business processes, innovative and enhancing competitive advantages in the sector: BET 4.0, PAV 4.0 and PointCloud4BIM.

03.

Introduction of the Digital Twin concept in construction, with 3D digital models, which will be permanently updated and augmented with information, allowing knowledge of the reality of the construction work in the back-office, in real time. Moreover, it will facilitate decision-making, including the constant adjustment of resource allocation and the development of production processes in optimum conditions and the overlap of the virtual domain with the physical domain.

04.

Creation of a unified data delivery platform (DataDelivery4Construction) that facilitates the collection of data from multiple sources – DIGI4Construction, corporate systems (ERP’s, budgeting, etc.) and automatic data collectors – sensors, laserscans, cctv cameras, etc … – and promotes its use in different business applications.

PPS3

Digital Twin for operation and maintenance.

It will work as an “accelerator” of the digitalisation process for the different stakeholders, with particular focus on project owners and facility management companies, as well as construction companies, designers, architects, inspection companies and material suppliers, who can benefit from the knowledge of the behaviour of assets and their materials in later stages of the life cycle. To this end, the following specific objectives are planned to be achieved:

01.

Implementation of an inclusive, open technological context that favours the use of Open Source based solutions and promotes the introduction of Industry 4.0 technologies in the sector.

02.

Availability of apps to support the digitalisation of business processes, innovative and enhancing competitive advantages: RCM4Assets and Pav 4.0 – LC.

03.

Introduction of the Digital Twin concept in asset management, with 3D digital models, permanently updated in an automatic way and augmented with information, allowing the knowledge of the reality of the assets in the back-office, in real time. It will facilitate decision making, including the constant adjustment of the allocation of resources and the development of operation and maintenance processes in optimal conditions and the overlapping of the virtual domain with the physical domain.

04.

Creation of a unified data availability platform that facilitates the collection of data from multiple sources, from corporate systems to automatic data collectors, and promotes its use in different business applications.

The goal is to create an extension of the PPS2 developments, adapted to the specific needs of asset management, but which does not imply a duplication of effort and above all allows a continuous use of the information throughout the life cycle of the assets.

PPS4

Living Lab Paving and BIM Demostrator for Civil Engineering Projects

In this PPS, two Living Labs (demonstrators) will be implemented to carry out the work developed in PPSs 1, 2 and 3, to validate the systems and applications developed. One of them will be BIM4Bridges, which will demonstrate the potential of BIM when applied to civil engineering projects – for this context, laser can model and photogrammetry of an existing work of art/infrastructure will be performed. The other will be dedicated to the digitalisation of road pavement information, to validate the applications PAV 4.0 (which will instrument and record information during the pavement construction phase) and PAV 4.0 LC (which will instrument and record information during the pavement use phase to assess the evolution of its performance throughout the life cycle).

PPS5

Project Management and Communication

It encompasses the activities necessary for the management, promotion and communication of the project, as well as its interconnection with other national initiatives.
